Thanks to the project developed by the Council for British Archaeology under the HLF-funded 'Skills for the Future' programme, we have been able to make further advances on our aim of involving the community in carrying out hands-on archaeology. Natasha Scullion, a recent graduate from Lampeter, took up the Community Archaeologist Training Placement at the beginning of April. She will be with us for a year, during which she will work with local groups, both delivering community archaeology programmes and helping to develop them. One project already under way is in Clyne Valley Country Park, where there is a huge amount of archaeology waiting to be recorded, especially sites connected with early coal-mining. She is also working to arrange our programme of summer events for the Heritage and Outreach section, which is a skill she will need for her future career.
