Lakeside Gardens character area: late 20th century housing development.

Summary

A late 20th century housing development.

Historical background

The historic landscape area of Lakeside Gardens comprises a linear development of late 20th century suburban housing, mostly detached within their own grounds. The area retains little of historic interest except for the road (now leading to the Gurnos Estate) which demarcates the eastern boundary of the area is thought to preserve the line of an earlier Roman Road from the fort at Penydarren, which lead via Gurnos to a crossing point on the Taff Fechan at Pontsarn.
