PREHISTORIC FUNERARY AND RITUAL SITES IN SOUTHEAST WALES

INTRODUCTION

Between 2000 and 2006, the Glamorgan-Gwent Archaeological carried out a survey of all prehistoric burial and ritual sites on the Sites and Monuments Record. This survey, which was funded by Cadw: Welsh Historic Monuments, was part of a project to survey all sites of this type over the whole of Wales. Our part of the survey covers the former counties of Glamorgan and Gwent, now the unitary authorities of Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Neath Port Talbot, Newport, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Swansea, Torfaen and the Vale of Glamorgan. The results of the survey have been used to compile these web pages as an educational resource.
